Buffer TEP System for Air France Cargo at Charles de Gaulle Airport

SACO has successfully delivered the advanced Buffer TEP system to Air France Cargo (AFC) at Charles de Gaulle Airport. This cutting-edge ULD transport system is designed to automatically convey ULDs between the truck docking area and the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) docking area. While transporting the ULDs, the system continuously monitors their positions and prioritises movements based on operational needs. This innovative solution enhances the efficiency and reliability of Air France Cargo’s logistics operations, ensuring smooth and automated handling of cargo throughout the facility.

First serve those pallets with high priority Based on this information the system computes the routing priority in order to first serve those pallets with high priority. The pallets can be placed or removed from the system using trucks, trolleys or AGV. The TEP is able to Operate in 4 different modes (Fully Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Manual and Maintenance Mode) and communicate with the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Control System (WCS), the AGV management system and AGV’s to push or pull the required information in order to identify the ULD/pallets and their destinations. The SCADA is displayed on a 19” screen making the system very straight forward and user friendly.

The TEP consists of the following equipment:

  • 31x Motor powered Roller Decks, NEP, various sizes
  • 21 x Motor powered Roller Decks, WEP, various sizes
  • 11 x Motor Powered Right Angle Deck
  • Walkways and steps
  • Heavy duty protection barrier with rollers
  • Electrical Control System (PLC based) including:MCC and
  • operator desk, operator panels.
